Art History Illustrated, Curating America: The White House as an Art Museum
The White House is more than a seat of power—it is also a carefully curated museum of American history and identity. This lecture explores the evolution of the presidential residence, from its early years to the present, through the lens of its art, furnishings, and decorative programs. Art historian Brenda Edgar will consider how different administrations have shaped its interiors to project political ideals, cultural values, and national narratives. This program is intended for adults.
Join us for our “Art History Illustrated” talk series, held the third Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. This monthly illustrated talk series is presented by art historian Brenda Edgar, in collaboration with The Floyd County Carnegie Library Cultural Arts Center.
