Eco Etch: Recycled Printmaking!

Discover the art of printmaking in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop! Participants will transform recycled CDs into unique printing plates by scratching designs directly into the surface using simple drypoint techniques. With no press required, you’ll learn how to ink, wipe, and hand-print your own artwork, creating striking, one-of-a-kind prints to take home. This creative process blends sustainability with artistic expression, making it perfect for all skill levels.

All materials provided, feel free to bring your own CD’s to create multiple prints!

Registration strongly encouraged!

***Patrons must be comfortable handling carving equipment, as tools used in this class are sharp and require focused attention and safe handling practices.***

 

Session Outline (1.5–3 hours)

•Introduction to drypoint printmaking

•Live demonstration: Scratching your design into a CD surface, Inking and wiping techniques, Hand-printing without a press

•Guided creation time: Produce 1–3 original prints

 

Special Feature:
Participants may choose to contribute their etched CDs to a collaborative installation, creating a mobile or kinetic art display that showcases the creativity of the group.
