Simple Bookbinding
(Create your own handmade notebooks)

Join us at the Carnegie Library Cultural Arts Center to discover the art of book binding presented by local artist and art educator Jessica Hartman. Patrons will explore and discover the art of bookbinding in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop!

Inspired by creative DIY techniques, participants will design and assemble their own custom notebooks using simple binding methods. From choosing unique covers to stitching pages together, this workshop blends creativity, craftsmanship, and personalization. This is the perfect class for anyone who loves paper arts, journaling, or handmade gifts.

Patrons will learn simple book binding techniques such as the pamphlet stitch combining technique and a few simple materials to create beautiful, functional books. Participants will learn how to fold, align, and bind pages securely, while exploring creative ways to customize covers and page layouts. The result is a one-of-a-kind notebook that’s both practical and expressive.
