“Wonder: The Lives of Anna and Harlan Hubbard”, with Filmmaker Morgan Atkinson
This has been a big year for the legacy of Harlan and Anna Hubbard. A new historic marker was erected recently near the Hubbards’ Ohio River home in Trimble County, Kentucky, and the first ever Payne Hollow Symposium has just concluded in the Madison, Indiana/Milton, Kentucky area. We can wonder if Harlan and Anna would think they deserved this much attention for simply living their lives in the most aesthetic way they saw fit.
You will be able to judge for yourself when the sensitive documentary, “Wonder: The Lives of Anna and Harlan Hubbard”, is shown on Thursday, November 12th, at 5:30 pm at the Floyd County Carnegie Library Cultural Arts Center. Free and open to the public, registration is appreciated.
If you are unfamiliar with the Hubbards’ story then Morgan Atkinson’s documentary is a great introduction. Adding gravitas to this film is that it is narrated by the late Wendell Berry, who was a personal friend and biographer of Anna and Harlan Hubbard. Atkinson has been making independent films for over thirty years and is widely recognized as one of our most contemplative filmmakers.
